    Minn. cadet chosen as Normandy scholar

    Evan DuFresne, a junior at North Lakes Academy Charter School in Forest Lake, Minnesota, has been accepted into the prestigious Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom Albert H. Small Student and Teacher Institute. Along with North Lakes teacher Christopher Stewart, DuFresne will embark on a yearlong course of study that concludes with a journey to Normandy, France, to honor a World War II Silent Hero who died during or after the D-Day landings. In addition to his studies at North Lakes, DuFresne also serves in Civil Air Patrol, as a cadet chief master sergeant in the Minnesota Wing’s Anoka County Composite Squadron.
