LOUISIANA -- Civil Air Patrol Cadet 2nd Lt. Kieran Denehan Jr., a graduating senior from Airline High School in Bossier City, will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and serve his country in the U.S. Army after turning down two full paid scholarships to the four-year universities of his choice – Louisiana Tech University and the University of Notre Dame. A member of the Louisiana Wing’s Barksdale Composite Squadron, Denehan said he was honored to receive the appointment to West Point and sees it as a way of thanking America. “My dad was an Irish immigrant and the military gave him a chance to succeed,” he said. “I feel obligated to pay them back.”
