High winds delay air search for car in Kalamazoo River

    March 8, 2017

The search for a missing car and driver believed to have gone into the Kalamazoo River was postponed Wednesday due to strong winds. The car, believed to be a Hyundai Sonata, is thought to have entered the river in Battle Creek, Michigan, along Dickman Road east of Capital Avenue in Battle Creek around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Authorities have been looking for it ever since. The Michigan Wing of Civil Air Patrol, which is part of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, was supposed to fly over the river Wednesday, but won’t be in the air until at least Thursday because of high sustained and gusting winds.
