Civil Air Patrol Volunteer Now

Flight nurse-turned-chaplain to speak at Purple Heart Ceremony

    February 16, 2017

Many U.S. soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War were drafted into the service — but not all of them. Some volunteered. One such person — Chaplain Lt. Col. Linda Pugsley — will be the keynote speaker Saturday at the 12th annual Purple Heart Ceremony hosted by the Aaron A. Weaver Chapter 776 Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) in Citrus County, Florida. An Air Force flight nurse for two tours in Vietnam, Pugsley, 70, now serves as a Civil Air Patrol chaplain. “It’s like coming full circle,” she said. “As a young flight nurse I tended to the physical wounds of soldiers. Now, as a chaplain, I tend to the spiritual and emotional wounds of vets.”
