Civil Air Patrol to survey flooding from record snowpack in Sierra Nevada

    March 14, 2017

Help is on the way in anticipation of runoff from the record snowpack in the Sierra Nevada. Civil Air Patrol flights will help survey flood control measures as the snow pack thaws in Northern Nevada. Aircrews from CAP’s Douglas County and Reno composite squadrons will fly aerial reconnaissance flights as needed to monitor the flooding, which is expected due to heavy snowfall throughout the Sierra Nevada. According to Mount Rose Ski Tahoe, the ski resort has received over 600 inches of snow this winter — nearly three times the resort’s base of 219 inches.
